Guide last updated October 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the arrival date
  • E-ticket flight itinerary (return or onward)
  • Completed online e-Ticket immigration and customs form, submitted at migracion.gob.do within 7 days before travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or host address)
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory but strongly recommended; some airlines and hotels check for it
  • Photo/biometrics: not required for the 30-day exemption

Visa types

  • No visa required for stays up to 30 days for tourism, transit, or short business visits, covered under the general visa-exemption list that includes Hong Kong SAR
  • Longer-stay, residency, or employment visas are handled separately through Dominican consulates and require sponsorship documents

Entry conditions

  • Up to 30 days visa-free for tourism, transit, or short business purposes
  • Must complete the online e-Ticket form (combined immigration and customs declaration) before travel
  • A tourist extension (prórroga de turista) can be paid for at the airport on departure for stays of 31-90 days
  • Work is not permitted under the tourist exemption

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the 30-day visa-free stay
  • Overstay/extension fee charged at departure: roughly USD 20-25 for stays of 31-90 days, increasing for longer overstays, payable in cash or by card at the airport
  • The online e-Ticket form is free and usually confirms instantly

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Complete the e-Ticket form no earlier than 7 days before departure, since it has a validity window
  • Save the QR code confirmation on your phone; it is scanned on both arrival and departure
  • If staying beyond 30 days, budget for the overstay fee at the airport exit rather than seeking a mid-trip extension
  • The Dominican Republic has no embassy in Hong Kong; general queries can go through the consulate in mainland China or the Ministry of Tourism
  • Peak season (December-April) brings longer immigration queues at Punta Cana and Santo Domingo airports; arrive early
