Cyprus Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Cyprus visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

Guide last updated October 23, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from Cyprus
  • Proof of sufficient funds (recommended EUR 50-100/day or bank statement)
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Travel health insurance recommended though not strictly mandatory
  • Cyprus is not part of the Schengen area, so entries/exits here are counted separately from mainland Schengen travel

Visa types

  • Not applicable for stays under 90 days - entry is visa-free for tourism and business visits
  • Longer stays, work or study require a Cypriot national visa or residence permit through the Civil Registry and Migration Department

Entry conditions

  • Maximum stay: 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, tracked independently of Schengen-area stays
  • No work permitted on visa-free entry
  • Passport stamped at Larnaca or Paphos airport on arrival and departure
  • Extension beyond 90 days is only granted in exceptional circumstances by the Civil Registry and Migration Department

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee since entry is visa-free
  • No mandatory pre-travel authorization fee at this time - confirm current status before travel, as Cyprus has discussed its own entry-authorization scheme
  • No other charges for a standard tourist entry
  • National visa or residence permit applications for longer stays carry separate fees

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Days spent in Cyprus do not count against your Schengen 90/180-day allowance, and vice versa - useful if combining Cyprus with a wider European trip
  • Carry proof of accommodation and return travel, as border officers occasionally request these
  • Keep travel insurance documentation handy even though it isn't mandatory
  • Pre-trip questions can be directed to a regional Cypriot consulate or Cyprus's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
