Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Croatia visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, under Schengen area rules.

Guide last updated October 23, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years
  • Proof of sufficient funds (recommended EUR 50-100/day or bank statement)
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Travel health insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 recommended
  • An ETIAS travel authorization is expected to become required before travel - check current status before departure

Visa types

  • Not applicable for stays under 90 days - entry is visa-free for tourism, business visits and short family visits
  • Longer stays, work or study require a national visa or residence permit applied for through Croatia's consular services or local police administration

Entry conditions

  • Maximum stay: 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted across the entire Schengen area, not just Croatia
  • No work permitted on visa-free entry
  • Passport is stamped on entry/exit at Schengen external borders
  • Extensions beyond 90 days are only possible for exceptional humanitarian or force majeure reasons, handled by the Ministarstvo unutarnjih poslova

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee since entry is visa-free
  • ETIAS, when implemented, will carry a small fee (expected around EUR 7) with near-instant online approval
  • No other charges for a standard tourist entry
  • National long-stay visas or residence permits for stays beyond 90 days carry separate fees and processing times

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Track your Schengen days carefully if visiting multiple Schengen countries on the same trip, since the 90/180 rule applies cumulatively
  • Carry proof of funds and accommodation for border checks
  • Monitor the ETIAS rollout timeline and apply online in advance once required
  • Keep travel insurance documentation on hand even though it is not mandatory
  • Questions about longer stays are best directed to Croatia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
