Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Chile visa-free for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for the duration of your stay
  • The Tourist Card issued on the flight or at immigration - keep it safe, it must be surrendered on departure (replacement fee if lost, around USD 23-50)
  • Proof of onward/return travel
  • Proof of sufficient funds may be requested (recommended USD 30-50/day)
  • Accommodation details
  • Travel health insurance recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • Not applicable - travel is visa-free for tourism and short business visits of up to 90 days
  • No visa category is needed for stays under 90 days
  • Longer stays or work require a separate visa/residence permit applied for outside Chile or converted from tourist status through Chile's Departamento de Extranjería y Migración

Entry conditions

  • Maximum stay: 90 days per visit
  • Extendable once for another 90 days, fee approximately CLP 30,000-55,000 paid at Extranjería
  • No work permitted on tourist entry
  • Present the Tourist Card and passport on both arrival and departure

  • Tourist Card is issued free of charge on arrival
  • No reciprocity fee applies to HKSAR passport holders
  • In-country 90-day extension fee: approximately CLP 30,000-55,000 (~USD 35-60), processed same day to a few days at Extranjería offices

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Keep the paper Tourist Card safe throughout your trip - losing it can cause delays and a fine at departure
  • Apply for an extension before the 90 days expire if staying longer
  • Carry proof of funds and onward travel in case immigration officers ask
  • Chile has no special pre-registration requirement for short stays, but check current e-Declaration/customs form rules before flying
