Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Cape Verde visa-free for up to 90 days, but must still obtain the EASE online pre-travel authorization (about EUR 34) before flying.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date
  • Completed EASE (Easy Cape Verde) online pre-travel authorization, required of nearly all visitors regardless of visa-free status
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds (guideline around EUR 50/day)
  • Travel health insurance recommended
  • Yellow fever certificate if arriving from an endemic country

Entry conditions

  • Immigration checks your EASE confirmation and stamps your passport on arrival at Praia or Sal airport
  • Extensions of up to 90 additional days are possible in-country via the Direção de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras, fee approximately EUR 20-30

  • Processing: usually 24-48 hours, often same day
  • No separate visa fee since entry itself is visa-free
  • In-country extension fee: approximately EUR 20-30, processed within a few business days

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Apply for EASE at least 2-3 days before departure to allow for processing
  • Save or print the EASE confirmation - airlines may deny boarding without it
  • Carry proof of accommodation and return ticket for immigration checks
  • Cape Verde has no embassy in Hong Kong, so the EASE portal and its support channel are the main source for questions
