Guide last updated October 23, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond entry, with at least one blank page
  • Visa on arrival application form, completed at the airport or border, or the online e-Visa application form if applying in advance
  • One recent passport-style photo (required for visa on arrival; uploaded digitally for the e-Visa)
  • Proof of accommodation and onward/return ticket
  • USD cash for the visa on arrival fee
  • No biometrics collected in advance; fingerprints and a photo are taken at Cambodian immigration on arrival regardless of visa type

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (Type T) - single entry, 30 days, extendable once for an additional 30 days but not convertible to a business visa
  • Business visa (Type E) - single entry, 30 days, extendable and convertible into a multiple-entry visa or work permit while in Cambodia
  • e-Visa - an online equivalent of the tourist visa, valid for entry at major airports and the main Poipet/Bavet land borders

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International Airports and at major land border crossings
  • Fill out the arrival form, submit your photo, passport and the visa fee in USD cash
  • Tourist visa on arrival costs USD 30; business visa costs USD 35
  • Processing at the airport counter typically takes 5-10 minutes; land borders can be slower and sometimes involve informal surcharges
  • Alternatively, apply for the e-Visa online before departure to receive approval by email and avoid the on-arrival queue

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival: USD 30 (tourist) or USD 35 (business), cash only, paid at the airport/border counter
  • e-Visa: total cost around USD 36 (USD 30 visa fee plus a USD 6 processing fee), paid online by card
  • e-Visa processing time: approximately 3 business days
  • Extension of stay (tourist or business) can be arranged through a local travel agent or the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh for an additional fee

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Consider applying for the e-Visa in advance to avoid queues and the informal extra charges sometimes seen at land border crossings
  • Carry small USD bills for the visa on arrival fee and have a passport photo ready
  • Keep a printed copy of your e-Visa approval alongside your passport if you chose that route
  • A 30-day tourist visa can be extended once for a further 30 days through a travel agent for a service fee on top of the official extension cost
