Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Belarus visa-free for up to 30 days per visit under Belarus's unilateral visa-free regime, provided they hold mandatory travel medical insurance.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least the duration of stay (6 months recommended)
  • No visa application form needed for visa-free entry
  • Mandatory travel medical insurance with minimum USD/EUR 10,000 coverage valid for the whole stay - checked at the border, can be bought at Minsk National Airport if you arrive without one
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation) and a return/onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds (around USD 25 per day as a general guideline, may be requested by border officers)
  • No photo or biometrics required for visa-free entry
  • If staying more than 10 days, you must register your temporary stay with the local Citizens' Affairs Department or have your hotel register you automatically

Visa types

  • Visa-free tourist/private/business entry - up to 30 days per visit, used when entering via Minsk National Airport (and designated land checkpoints for some nationalities)
  • Tourist visa (single/multiple entry, issued by a Belarusian consulate) - required if you plan to stay longer than 30 days or enter outside the visa-free scheme
  • Work visa and temporary residence permit - required for employment, issued through the Ministry of Internal Affairs after a local sponsor applies on your behalf

Entry conditions

  • Maximum 30 days per single visit, with a cap of roughly 90 days in any 180-day period
  • No employment is permitted under the visa-free regime
  • On arrival you must present your passport, return ticket, accommodation proof and valid medical insurance
  • Registration of your stay is required after 10 consecutive days in Belarus; hotels handle this automatically, private accommodation requires a personal visit to a Citizens' Affairs Department
  • Extensions beyond 30 days are not available under the visa-free scheme - you must exit and, if eligible, re-enter, or obtain a consular visa in advance

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for visa-free entry
  • Travel medical insurance, if purchased on arrival at Minsk National Airport, costs roughly USD 1-2 per day of stay
  • If a consular tourist visa is later needed: fee is approximately USD 60-90 depending on entry type, standard processing is 5 working days, express (1-2 days) is typically double the fee
  • No service/agency fee applies to visa-free entry itself

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Buy or confirm your travel medical insurance before departure - border officers routinely check it and entry can be refused without it
  • Keep your boarding pass and hotel confirmation accessible for the immigration check
  • If staying with friends/family rather than a hotel, plan a visit to the local Citizens' Affairs Department within 10 days to register your stay
