HKSAR passport holders can enter Armenia visa-free for stays of up to 180 days per year, one of the more generous visa-free allowances available to Hong Kong travelers.

What you need

  • Passport valid for the duration of the stay
  • No visa required for the visa-free allowance
  • Return or onward ticket (not always strictly checked but recommended)
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of funds for the stay (rarely requested)
  • Travel insurance recommended

Visa types

  • No visa required for stays up to 180 days per calendar year for tourism or business
  • Temporary residence permit: required for stays beyond 180 days or for work/study, applied for at the Police Passport and Visa Department inside Armenia
  • E-visa system (evisa.mfa.am) exists for nationalities that do need a visa, not required for HKSAR passport holders under the current visa-free arrangement

Entry conditions

  • Maximum stay: up to 180 days within a calendar year, which can be used continuously or in multiple visits
  • No work permitted without a separate work permit
  • Present passport at border control on arrival (land, air or rail); an entry stamp is issued
  • No extension process needed within the 180-day allowance; a residence permit is required only if staying longer or working

  • No fee for visa-free entry
  • No processing time, as no visa or e-visa is required
  • Residence permit fees and processing (several weeks) apply only if a longer stay or work authorization is needed

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Track your cumulative days if making multiple trips to Armenia within the same calendar year, since the 180-day limit is annual, not per-visit
  • Armenia is a convenient visa-free base for onward travel to Georgia, which also offers generous visa-free access
  • Carry proof of accommodation for any land border crossings from Georgia or Iran
  • Confirm current entry requirements shortly before travel since land border access can vary with regional conditions
  • No work on a visa-free stay; arrange a proper work permit in advance if taking up employment
