What you need

  • Passport valid for the duration of the stay (6 months validity recommended)
  • No visa or online form required for the visa-free allowance
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds (rarely checked but can be requested)
  • Travel insurance recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • No visa required for tourism/business stays up to 90 days
  • Extension: a further 90 days can be requested once, at the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, fee approx. ARS equivalent of USD 30-50
  • Student/work visas require a separate application through an Argentine consulate before travel

Entry conditions

  • Maximum stay: 90 days per entry, extendable once for another 90 days inside Argentina
  • No local employment permitted under the visa-free allowance
  • Present passport and arrival details to Argentine migration (Migraciones) on arrival; an entry stamp or digital record is issued
  • Keep your entry record/stamp, as it may be checked on departure or when requesting an extension

  • No fee for visa-free entry
  • Extension fee: approx. USD 30-50 equivalent in Argentine pesos, processed same day at a Migraciones office
  • No pre-arrival processing time, since no visa application is needed

  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation, especially if traveling onward within South America
  • Exchange currency through official channels; informal exchange carries legal and practical risks
  • Business visitors attending meetings/conferences only generally do not need anything beyond the tourist entry
  • Keep digital and printed copies of your entry record for the extension process
