HKSAR passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at Angolan international airports for short stays, following Angola's visa-waiver/visa-on-arrival policy introduced for most nationalities.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival date
  • Completed arrival visa form (available at the airport or online pre-registration where offered)
  • 1-2 passport photos, though many ports now capture a photo digitally on arrival
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) and return ticket
  • Proof of funds for the stay
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry into Angola
  • Biometrics (photo and fingerprints) taken at the airport on arrival

Visa types

  • Short-stay visa on arrival: single entry, max stay 30 days, extendable once inside Angola, fee approx. USD 100-120
  • Business visa on arrival: similar validity, requires an invitation letter from an Angolan company, fee approx. USD 120-140
  • Longer-term work/residence visas must still be arranged in advance through an Angolan embassy

  • Available at Luanda's 4 de Fevereiro International Airport and other designated international entry points
  • On arrival: present passport, yellow fever certificate, return ticket, accommodation proof and the arrival form
  • Pay the visa fee in USD or EUR cash at the visa counter (card payment not always reliable)
  • Processing at the airport typically takes 30-60 minutes depending on queue length
  • Business travelers should also carry an invitation letter from the host company

  • Carry exact USD or EUR cash, as change and card facilities at the visa counter can be unreliable
  • Get your yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before travel and carry the certificate - it is checked before the visa counter
  • Common delays stem from missing accommodation proof or unclear yellow fever documentation
  • Book accommodation in advance, since Angola checks this closely for visa-on-arrival applicants
