Guide last updated September 10, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • No visa or e-visa needed for stays up to 45 days
  • Return or onward ticket may be requested
  • Proof of accommodation recommended
  • No photo or biometrics required in advance for visa-free entry
  • Travel health insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Unilateral visa exemption: up to 45 days, tourism or business, single entry per exemption period
  • E-Visa at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn: up to 90 days or multiple entries, fee USD 25, processing 3 working days
  • Longer-term work or investor visas arranged with local sponsorship

Entry conditions

  • Maximum 45 consecutive days visa-free
  • No work permitted
  • Must exit and wait 30 days before re-entering visa-free again, otherwise an e-visa or visa on arrival must be used
  • Present your passport and onward ticket at immigration

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the 45-day visa-free entry
  • E-Visa (for longer or repeat stays): USD 25, 3 working-day processing via the official government portal
  • No service fee if applied directly through the government site

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Track the 45-day limit carefully — overstaying incurs fines and possible entry bans
  • If planning multiple trips within 30 days, apply for an e-visa instead of relying on the exemption
  • Book onward or return tickets before departure, as airlines can request proof
  • Use only the official evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn portal to avoid scam visa websites
  • Keep a note of your entry stamp date to track the 45-day countdown
