What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • No visa application or form beyond the standard arrival card
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay (may be requested)
  • No photo or biometrics required for entry
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory

  • Longer stays, work or study require a separate visa or permit applied for through the Eswatini Ministry of Home Affairs before or during the visit

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Since Eswatini is often visited alongside South Africa, check that your passport also meets South Africa's stricter blank-page and validity rules if crossing that border
  • Carry proof of onward travel, as it may be requested at land borders
  • Malaria prophylaxis is advisable for the lowveld regions
  • Request any extension at the Mbabane Immigration Department a few days before the 30-day limit expires
  • Cash (Eswatini lilangeni, pegged to and interchangeable with the South African rand) is useful outside major towns
