South Sudan Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

German citizens must obtain a South Sudan e-visa online before travel - apply via the e-visa portal or embassy, pay around USD 100, with processing taking about 5-7 business days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, with at least two blank pages
  • Digital passport photo and scanned bio-data page for the online application
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory)
  • Letter of invitation or hotel booking confirmation
  • Proof of onward/return travel
  • Travel health insurance: strongly recommended given very limited healthcare infrastructure

Visa types

  • Tourist e-visa: single entry, typically valid for 30 days from the date of arrival
  • Business e-visa: single entry, up to 30 days, requires a South Sudanese business invitation letter
  • NGO/official visas: require additional clearance from the relevant ministry, arranged before applying

How to apply online

  • Apply through the South Sudan e-visa portal or the nearest South Sudanese embassy where an e-visa option is unavailable
  • Submit passport scan, photo, yellow fever certificate and travel details, then pay the fee online
  • Processing takes about 5-7 business days for standard applications
  • Approval is issued as a PDF letter - print and present it with your passport on arrival at Juba International Airport
  • A security or travel permit may be required for movement outside Juba - check with the National Security Service before internal travel
