Saudi Arabia Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

German citizens can obtain a Saudi tourist eVisa online before travel, or a visa on arrival at major airports if holding a valid Schengen, US, or UK visa; fee around SAR 300 (~USD 80), valid one year for multiple entries of up to 90 days.

Guide last updated October 14, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Digital passport-style photo (white background) for the online application
  • Proof of a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa or residency (needed to qualify for visa on arrival rather than the eVisa)
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of hotel booking or accommodation address
  • Bank statement or proof of sufficient funds (approx. SAR 2,000 / USD 530 recommended)
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) captured on arrival for all visitors
  • Mandatory travel/medical insurance, usually bundled automatically with the eVisa fee

Visa types

  • Saudi Tourist eVisa: multiple entry, valid 1 year from issue, max 90 days per visit, applied for online at visa.visitsaudi.com, fee approx. SAR 300-463 (~USD 80-125) including insurance
  • Visa on arrival: available at Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam international airports for travelers already holding a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa or residence permit, fee approx. SAR 300 (~USD 80), single or multiple entry, up to 90 days
  • Umrah/Hajj visa: separate pilgrimage category arranged through approved travel agents, not covered by the tourist eVisa
  • Business visa: for work-related visits, requires a Saudi sponsor's invitation letter, fee varies, processed via Enjazit or the embassy

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Riyadh (King Khalid Intl), Jeddah (King Abdulaziz Intl), and Dammam (King Fahd Intl) airports
  • Eligibility: must hold a valid (or recently expired within 90 days) Schengen, UK, or US visa, or be a resident of one of those
  • Steps: 1) proceed to the "Visa on Arrival" counter before immigration, 2) present passport, return ticket, and proof of the qualifying visa, 3) pay the fee by card or cash, 4) biometrics captured, 5) visa sticker/stamp issued on the spot, typically within 15-30 minutes
  • The online eVisa is generally faster and avoids queues; visa on arrival works best as a backup option
  • Peak arrival times (evening flights) can mean 1-2 hour waits at the VOA counter

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: approx. SAR 300 (~USD 80), payable by card or cash at the airport counter
  • Online eVisa fee: approx. SAR 300-463 (~USD 80-125), including mandatory travel insurance
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee for the eVisa (processed directly through the government portal)
  • eVisa processing time: usually instant to 24 hours after submission
  • Visa on arrival processing: 15-30 minutes at the airport counter

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply for the eVisa online before departure to skip the on-arrival queue entirely
  • Make sure your Schengen visa (if using it to qualify for VOA) is still valid or expired less than 90 days, with evidence of past use
  • Common rejection reasons: passport validity under 6 months, missing accommodation proof, or an eVisa photo that doesn't meet the white-background requirement
  • Dress and conduct guidelines apply; carry a printed hotel confirmation as immigration officers sometimes request it
  • Extensions beyond 90 days are not available for tourist visas; a new application is required after the visa's one-year validity lapses
