What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond entry
  • Proof of onward/return ticket - strictly checked given Palau's limited flight options (via Guam, Taiwan, or the Philippines)
  • Proof of accommodation booking
  • Signing of the Palau Pledge, an environmental commitment stamped into your passport on arrival, plus payment of the Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (PPEF)
  • No visa, extra form, or photo required beyond the standard arrival card
  • Travel health insurance strongly recommended given limited medical facilities (serious cases are evacuated to Guam, Taiwan, or the Philippines)

  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen - Palau bans sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are confiscated at customs
  • Budget extra cash, as Palau uses the US dollar and card acceptance outside Koror is limited
  • Confirm current flight connections well ahead, as schedules are infrequent and subject to change
