German citizens can apply for a Pakistan e-visa online through the official onlinemfa.gov.pk portal before travel; tourist e-visas typically take about 7-10 working days to process.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay, with at least two blank pages
  • Digital passport-style photo (white background) uploaded with the application
  • Scanned passport bio page
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking), or an invitation letter for those visiting family/friends
  • Bank statement showing sufficient funds (last 3-6 months)
  • For business e-visas, an invitation letter from a Pakistani company
  • Travel health insurance recommended
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa itself, though some airports may take a photo on arrival

Visa types

  • Tourist e-visa: single or multiple entry, 30 or 90 days validity, up to 30 days per entry (extendable inside Pakistan)
  • Business e-visa: single/multiple entry, requires an invitation letter and company registration details
  • Group tourist e-visa: available for tour groups of 5 or more, with additional streamlined processing

How to apply online

  • Register and apply at onlinemfa.gov.pk, Pakistan's official online visa system
  • Upload the passport copy, photo, and supporting documents (hotel booking, bank statement, invitation letter if applicable)
  • Pay the e-visa fee online by credit/debit card
  • Track the application status through the portal; approval is sent by email as a printable e-visa
  • Present the printed e-visa approval along with your passport on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-visa fee: approximately USD 28-35 for a single-entry 30-day visa (fees vary by category)
  • Multiple-entry/90-day tourist e-visa: approximately USD 80-135
  • Standard processing time: 7-10 working days
  • No official express service; apply at least 3 weeks before travel to be safe

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply well ahead of your trip, since processing occasionally exceeds the stated 7-10 working days
  • Ensure your uploaded photo meets the strict specifications (plain white background, no glasses or headwear except for religious reasons)
  • Keep a printed copy of your e-visa approval, hotel bookings, and travel insurance for airport immigration checks
  • Register with the German embassy in Islamabad if traveling to regions with elevated travel advisories
