  • Invitation/sponsor letter from a Nauru resident, employer, or government agency (independent tourism infrastructure is minimal)
  • Proof of return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • No biometrics required for the application itself
  • Travel health insurance strongly recommended, as Nauru's RON Hospital has limited capacity and serious cases are medevaced to Australia

  • Business visa - single or multiple entry, up to 30 days per visit
  • Employment visa - tied to an approved work contract and work permit
  • Most visas issued to German applicants are business or sponsor-linked, since there is little independent tourism.

How to apply

  • Nauru has no embassy in Germany and no online e-visa system. Email your scanned application form, passport copy, photo, and sponsor letter to the Border Control Division under Nauru's Department of Justice and Border Control. Processing is entirely manual - approval is sent back by email and must be printed and presented with your passport on arrival at Nauru International Airport. Build in extra time, since communication is email-only and local public holidays can delay replies.

  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - there is no outsourced visa agency

  • Secure your sponsor/invitation letter first - vague or missing sponsorship is the most common cause of delay
  • Coordinate directly with your Nauru-based contact, employer, or NGO, since backpacker tourism is not well supported
  • Direct all questions to Border Control by email, as there is no Nauruan diplomatic mission in Germany
