Myanmar Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

German citizens must obtain a Myanmar e-visa online before travel via the official evisa.moip.gov.mm portal; the tourist e-visa costs $50 USD, takes about 3 business days to process, and allows a single entry stay of up to 28 days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • Digital passport-style photo for the online application
  • Completed online e-visa application form with travel itinerary details
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for the first few nights
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Travel health insurance recommended
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa; a standard immigration photo/fingerprint may be taken on arrival

Visa types

  • Tourist e-visa: single entry, valid for use within 90 days of approval, maximum stay 28 days, fee $50 USD
  • Business e-visa: single entry, maximum stay 70 days (extendable), fee $70 USD
  • Sticker visas from the embassy in Berlin remain available as an alternative for travelers preferring a physical visa

How to apply online

  • Visit the official Myanmar e-visa portal (evisa.moip.gov.mm)
  • Create an account, complete the application form, and upload the passport bio page and photo
  • Pay the fee online by credit/debit card ($50 USD for the tourist e-visa)
  • Processing typically takes about 3 business days; approval is emailed as a PDF letter
  • Print the approval letter and present it with your passport on arrival at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports (land border entry is not covered by the e-visa)

  • No separate service fee on the official government portal

  • The e-visa is valid for air entry only; travelers planning to cross land borders need a different visa type

  • Extensions beyond 28 days are handled by the Immigration and Population Department in Yangon
