Liberia Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

Visa Required

German citizens need a visa before traveling to Liberia; apply through the Liberian embassy or consulate before departure, as visas are not issued on arrival.

Guide last updated September 9, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Liberian visa application form
  • Passport-sized photo (2x2 inches, white background)
  • Proof of onward/return travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Biometrics: fingerprints may be taken on arrival at Roberts International Airport
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate: mandatory
  • Travel health insurance: recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist visa: single entry, valid 30 days from issue, must be used within that window
  • Business visa: requires an invitation letter from a Liberian company, single or multiple entry, up to 90 days validity
  • Multiple-entry visa: available for frequent business travelers with sponsor documentation, valid up to 1 year

How to apply

  • Apply in person or by mail through the Liberian embassy/consulate covering Germany
  • Submit the application form, photo, passport, yellow fever certificate, and an invitation letter (business) or itinerary (tourist)
  • Pay the visa fee by bank transfer, cash, or money order as instructed by the embassy
  • Standard processing takes 5-10 working days; an interview is not typically required for tourist applications
  • The approved visa is stamped directly into the passport

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist/business visa fee: approx. USD 100-160 depending on entry type and validity
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - applications are handled directly by the embassy
  • Total estimated cost: USD 100-170 including courier/return postage if applying by mail
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days
  • Expedited processing (where offered): 2-3 working days for an additional fee (approx. USD 50)

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel, since Liberia's diplomatic presence in Germany is limited and mail processing takes time
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate, incomplete business invitation letter, insufficient passport validity
  • Applications typically go directly to the embassy or a nearby regional mission, as there is no dedicated VFS/BLS center
  • Extensions are handled by the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization in Monrovia once in-country
