What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • Confirmed onward or return flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host details)
  • Sufficient funds for the stay
  • No visa application form or photo required for the standard tourist entry stamp
  • No biometrics beyond a standard photo/fingerprint check some travelers face at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory
  • Important: travelers with an Israeli stamp or evidence of travel to Israel in their passport can be refused entry

Visa types

  • Free Tourist entry stamp on arrival — issued to German citizens for stays of up to 1 month, extendable once for a further month at General Security
  • Business/longer-stay visas require sponsorship by a Lebanese company or resident and are arranged through the Lebanese Embassy in Berlin or General Security directly
  • Multiple-entry visas, if needed, must be applied for in advance through the embassy

  • Available at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport for German passport holders, issued free of charge at passport control
  • Present your passport and answer standard questions about purpose and length of stay; no separate form is normally required
  • No fee is charged for the standard 1-month tourist stamp for German citizens
  • Processing is quick, typically just the time needed for the standard passport control queue
  • Land border crossings (e.g. from Syria) have more limited and less predictable entry procedures — arriving by air is recommended
