Guide last updated September 9, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • A completed online application with a digital passport-style photo (white background)
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate — mandatory for entry into Côte d'Ivoire
  • No in-person biometrics for the e-visa; fingerprints may be captured on arrival at Abidjan Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Airport
  • Travel health insurance is recommended

Visa types

  • Short-stay e-Visa/ETA (Tourism/Business) — single entry, valid 90 days from issue, maximum stay 90 days, approximate fee USD 73
  • Multiple-entry e-Visa — available for frequent business travelers, higher fee, valid up to 1 year
  • Longer-stay visas (work, residence) must be arranged through the Ivorian Embassy in Berlin rather than the online e-visa portal

How to apply online

  • Apply at the official SNEDAI e-visa portal (snedai.ci) — this is the only authorized channel
  • Upload passport bio-page scan, photo and yellow fever certificate
  • Pay the fee online by credit card (about USD 73 for the standard tourist e-visa)
  • Processing typically takes around 72 hours, though it can be faster
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF authorization; present it with your passport at check-in and on arrival, where a visa sticker/stamp is affixed

Fees & processing time

  • Standard e-visa fee: approximately USD 73 (paid in local currency equivalent online)
  • No separate VFS/agency fee when applying directly through SNEDAI
  • Total cost: around USD 73–80 including card processing charges
  • Standard processing: about 72 hours
  • Expedited processing is not officially offered — apply at least a week before travel to be safe

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply at least 7–10 days before departure to allow for processing delays
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate, blurry photo uploads, or a passport with fewer than 2 blank pages
  • Always use the official snedai.ci site — unofficial visa agencies often overcharge for the same process
  • Extensions beyond 90 days must be requested at the Direction Générale des Affaires Politiques et Administratives in Abidjan before the visa expires
  • Keep a printed copy of the e-visa approval, as connectivity at the airport can be unreliable for showing a phone screen
