  • No proof of funds, accommodation, or return ticket required at the border, since both Germany and Iceland are within the Schengen area

  • Travel health insurance is not mandatory since the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) covers necessary medical treatment during your stay

  • Your German EHIC covers state healthcare during shorter stays, but longer-term residents should register with Icelandic health insurance
  • This is a genuine freedom-of-movement route, not a Schengen 90/180-day tourist allowance - German citizens can stay indefinitely
