Uganda Visa for France Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

French citizens must obtain an e-Visa online before traveling to Uganda, applying through the official Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit portal at least a few days before departure.

Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Digital passport-style photo (JPEG, plain background) uploaded during the online application
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio page
  • Proof of accommodation and a return/onward ticket
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda
  • No biometrics required for the e-Visa itself, but fingerprints may be taken on arrival at Entebbe International Airport
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry tourist e-Visa: valid for up to 90 days, single entry, fee USD 50
  • Single-entry business e-Visa: valid for up to 90 days, single entry, fee USD 50, requires an invitation letter from the host company
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: multi-entry visa covering Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda, valid 90 days, fee USD 100, applied for through the country of first entry
  • Multiple-entry visa: available for frequent travelers, longer validity, higher fee, approved case by case

How to apply online

  • Apply at visas.immigration.go.ug, Uganda's official Electronic Visa/Permit System
  • Create an account, complete the application form with travel dates, accommodation, and purpose of visit
  • Upload passport bio page scan and passport photo
  • Pay the visa fee online by credit or debit card (fee charged in USD)
  • Approval is typically emailed within 2-5 working days as a PDF approval letter
  • Print the approval letter and present it with your passport and yellow fever certificate on arrival at Entebbe

Fees & processing time

  • Single-entry tourist/business e-Visa: USD 50
  • East Africa Tourist Visa (multi-country): USD 100
  • Standard processing time: 2-5 working days, though it can occasionally take up to 2 weeks during peak season
  • No official expedited/priority processing option; applying at least 2-3 weeks before travel is recommended
  • Payment is made online during the application, no separate service fee

Tips for France travelers

  • Apply well ahead of your trip (3+ weeks recommended) since processing times can vary and there's no guaranteed express service
  • Make sure your yellow fever certificate is valid and matches your passport details exactly, as it is checked on arrival and missing/invalid certificates can lead to being denied entry or vaccinated on the spot
  • Common rejection reasons: blurry passport scans, mismatched names between the application and passport, or an unclear photo
  • If visiting Kenya or Rwanda on the same trip, the East Africa Tourist Visa can save money and hassle versus separate visas
