What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond entry, with at least one blank page
  • Completed online e-visa application via evisa.moip.gov.mm
  • Digital passport photo (white background) uploaded during the application
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for the application
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds may be requested
  • No advance biometrics; a fingerprint/photo scan may be taken on arrival at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
  • Travel health insurance strongly recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid 90 days from grant date for entry, allows a stay of up to 28 days, fee USD 50
  • Business e-Visa: same entry window, allows a stay of up to 70 days, fee USD 70, requires an invitation letter from a Myanmar-registered company

How to apply online

  • Apply via evisa.moip.gov.mm at least a few days before departure
  • Steps: register an account, complete the application with passport and travel details, upload photo and passport bio-page scan, pay online by credit or debit card
  • Processing time is typically 3 business days, though it can extend to 5-7 during high demand
  • The approval (grant notification) arrives by email as a PDF - print it and present it with your passport at the port of entry, where the visa stamp is applied

  • Tourist e-visa fee: USD 50; Business e-visa: USD 70, paid online and non-refundable if rejected
  • Standard processing is about 3 business days
  • No official express service; applying at least a week ahead is recommended given occasional delays
