Kuwait Visa for France Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

French citizens can obtain a Kuwait e-Visa online or a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport, valid for up to 90 days.

Guide last updated October 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Completed online application or arrival card
  • Confirmed return/onward ticket
  • Hotel booking or address of your sponsor/host in Kuwait
  • Passport-style photo (4.5cm x 3.5cm, white background) for the e-Visa application
  • Biometric fingerprinting is taken on arrival at the airport
  • Travel health insurance is recommended (and may be required depending on current entry rules)

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: valid 90 days from issue, single or multiple entry, fee around KWD 3 (about USD 10)
  • Visa on arrival: same validity and fee as the e-Visa, issued at the airport counter for travelers who did not pre-apply
  • Business visa: requires a sponsor letter from a Kuwaiti company, processed through evisa.moi.gov.kw, fee similar to the tourist e-Visa
  • GCC family/employment visas require local sponsorship and are arranged separately through the General Directorate for Residency Affairs

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Kuwait International Airport's arrival hall for most European passport holders, including French citizens
  • Present your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details at the visa counter before immigration
  • Fee is approximately KWD 3, payable in Kuwaiti dinars (small-denomination cash is useful, as change may be limited)
  • Pre-applying online via evisa.moi.gov.kw avoids the arrival queue and is recommended during peak travel periods
  • Processing at the counter typically takes 10-20 minutes depending on flight volume

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately KWD 3 (around USD 10), identical for the e-Visa and visa on arrival
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee, as the process is handled directly by Kuwaiti immigration
  • Total cost is close to the base visa fee, with no mandatory add-ons for most tourists
  • Online e-Visa approval is typically issued within minutes to a few hours; arrival processing takes well under an hour

Tips for France travelers

  • Apply for the e-Visa a few days before departure via evisa.moi.gov.kw to skip the arrival queue
  • Carry a printed copy of your e-Visa approval alongside your passport
  • Common rejection reasons include passport validity under 6 months and missing return ticket proof
  • The French Embassy in Kuwait City can assist with urgent document or passport issues but does not issue the entry visa itself
  • No extension is normally needed for the standard 90-day validity; longer stays require a separate sponsored visa arranged before the e-Visa expires
