Egypt Visa for France Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

French citizens can get an Egypt visa on arrival at major airports for USD 25, or apply for an e-Visa in advance at visa2egypt.gov.eg — both allow single-entry tourist stays of up to 30 days.

Guide last updated September 22, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • No pre-approval needed for visa on arrival; cash (or card, depending on the airport counter) to pay the fee
  • Return or onward ticket may be checked by the airline
  • Proof of accommodation is not usually required at the visa-on-arrival counter but can be requested
  • Photo: not required for the visa-on-arrival stamp
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo taken at immigration passport control
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory for entry

Visa types

  • Tourist Visa on Arrival: single entry, valid for up to 30 days, purchased in cash (USD 25) or by card at major international airports (Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor, etc.)
  • Tourist e-Visa: same 30-day single-entry validity, applied online in advance at visa2egypt.gov.eg, fee approximately USD 25
  • Multiple-entry e-Visa: valid for up to 6 months with multiple entries, fee approximately USD 60, available through the same e-Visa portal
  • Business Visa: for work-related travel, apply through the Egyptian Consulate in Paris with an invitation letter

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor and other major international airports (not all land/sea border crossings)
  • Steps: after landing, look for the visa/bank kiosk before passport control, pay the fee, receive a visa stamp/sticker, then proceed to immigration for passport stamping
  • Fee: USD 25 (or equivalent in EUR/GBP), cash preferred; some airports now also accept card payment
  • Queue tips: lines can be long during peak tourist season (October–April); have exact change ready to speed up the transaction
  • The e-Visa alternative avoids the arrival queue entirely and is recommended for travelers who prefer certainty before departure

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival: USD 25, paid in cash or card at the airport, processed in a few minutes at the kiosk
  • e-Visa (single entry): approximately USD 25, processed online in 3–7 business days
  • e-Visa (multiple entry, 6 months): approximately USD 60
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee for either route — both are handled directly by Egyptian authorities
  • Express e-Visa processing is not officially offered; apply at least a week ahead if going the online route

Tips for France travelers

  • The visa-on-arrival kiosk is easy to miss — look for signage before the passport control queue, not after
  • Apply for the e-Visa in advance if traveling during peak season to avoid long arrival queues
  • Common rejection reason for the e-Visa is a blurry or non-compliant passport photo/scan upload — double-check file requirements before submitting
  • Extensions of stay beyond 30 days can be arranged at the Mogamma building in Cairo or regional passport offices
  • The French Embassy in Cairo can assist with lost passports or emergencies, but not with visa fee waivers or extensions
