Dr Congo Visa for France Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

French citizens must obtain a DR Congo e-Visa online before travel — apply at the official portal, pay the fee in advance, and receive approval typically within a few business days.

Guide last updated September 22, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed online e-Visa application with a scanned passport bio page
  • Digital passport-style photo (JPEG, plain light background, taken within the last 6 months)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter) uploaded with the application
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate — mandatory for entry into DR Congo
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured on arrival at Kinshasa's N'Djili airport
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not formally required for the e-Visa

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, must be used within 90 days of issue
  • Business e-Visa: for short business trips, similar validity to tourist, requires an invitation letter from a DRC-based company
  • Multiple-entry visa: not available through the e-Visa portal; apply in person at the Embassy in Paris for multiple-entry needs
  • Long-stay/work visa: requires a separate application through the DRC Embassy with employer sponsorship documents

How to apply online

  • Apply at the official portal (linked from ambardc.org, the DRC Embassy in Belgium/France reference site) or the government e-visa platform
  • Steps: create an account, fill in personal and travel details, upload passport scan, photo, accommodation proof and yellow fever certificate, then pay online
  • Fee: approximately USD 100–130 for a single-entry tourist e-Visa, paid by credit card during the online application
  • Processing time: typically 3–7 business days; apply at least 2 weeks before travel to allow for delays
  • Approval arrives as a PDF e-Visa authorization sent by email — print it and carry it with your passport for boarding and arrival control

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approximately USD 100–130 (local equivalent charged in Congolese francs on arrival stamping, but the online fee is charged in USD)
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee — the e-Visa system is government-run
  • Total estimated cost: USD 100–130 plus any bank card foreign transaction fee
  • Standard processing: 3–7 business days
  • Express processing is not officially offered; delays are common during peak periods, so apply early

Tips for France travelers

  • Apply at least 3–4 weeks ahead of travel — Congolese e-Visa processing can be slower than stated, especially for first-time applicants
  • The most common rejection reason is an incomplete or low-quality passport scan/photo — ensure files meet the stated size and format requirements
  • Get your yellow fever vaccination well in advance (at least 10 days before travel for it to be valid) and keep the certificate with your passport
  • The French Embassy in Kinshasa can assist with emergencies but cannot expedite e-Visa processing
  • Consider the in-person Embassy application in Paris if you need a multiple-entry visa or faster turnaround via direct consular contact
