What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, with at least 1 blank page
  • One recent passport-style photo (4x6 cm)
  • Completed arrival visa form (or online e-Visa application)
  • Proof of accommodation and onward travel may be requested
  • Payment in USD cash for the on-arrival option (fee is fixed, but small tips/handling irregularities have historically been reported at land borders)
  • No mandatory yellow fever certificate unless arriving from an endemic country
  • Travel health insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist (T) visa: on arrival or e-Visa, single entry, valid 3 months from issue, maximum stay 30 days, extendable once
  • Ordinary/Business (E) visa: on arrival or via embassy, convertible to a longer-term visa once in Cambodia, extendable for work purposes
  • E-Visa: same tourist categories, applied for online before travel, accepted only at major airports and a limited number of land borders

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville international airports and most major land borders
  • Complete the arrival form, submit your photo and passport at the visa counter before immigration
  • Fee: USD 30 for the Tourist visa (E-class Business visa around USD 35), paid in cash
  • Processing at the airport typically takes 10-20 minutes
  • Alternatively, apply online at evisa.gov.kh in advance to skip the on-arrival counter (fee USD 36, includes a small processing charge, 3 business days processing)

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival: USD 30 (Tourist) paid in cash, processed in 10-20 minutes at the airport
  • E-Visa (online, in advance): USD 36 total, processing time approximately 3 business days
  • Visa extension in Cambodia (Tourist, one-time 30 days): approximately USD 45, processed via a local travel agent in 5-7 working days
  • No official express option for either route

Tips for France travelers

  • Bring exact USD cash for the on-arrival visa to avoid unfavorable exchange rates at the counter
  • Consider the e-Visa in advance for a faster airport experience, but check it is accepted at your specific entry point (not all land borders accept e-Visas)
  • Carry two passport photos in case the e-Visa upload is rejected and you need the on-arrival backup
  • Overstay fines are USD 10 per day, collected on departure - plan extensions ahead if unsure of your exit date
