Guide last updated September 22, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the date of entry
  • Completed online e-visa (ASAN Visa) application via evisa.gov.az
  • A digital passport photo page scan uploaded during the online application
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa
  • Proof of accommodation may be requested at the border, not for the e-visa application itself
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry e-visa: valid 30 days from issue, allows a stay of up to 30 days, for tourism/business
  • Multiple-entry e-visa: valid for a longer period with repeated stays up to 30 days each, for frequent travelers or specific business needs

How to apply online

  • Apply directly at evisa.gov.az (the official ASAN Visa portal), no agency needed
  • Fill in passport and travel details, upload a passport scan, and pay online by card
  • Fee: USD 20 for standard processing, USD 30 for a 3-hour express option
  • Standard processing time: up to 3 working days; express option approves within 3 hours
  • Approval is sent by email as a PDF e-visa; carry a printed copy to present at the border

Fees & processing time

  • Standard e-visa: USD 20, processed within 3 working days
  • Express e-visa: USD 30, processed within 3 hours
  • No additional VFS/service fee - the government portal handles payment directly
  • No separate embassy visit required

Tips for France travelers

  • Apply at least a few days before travel even though express processing exists, to avoid last-minute portal issues
  • Print or save a digital copy of the approved e-visa PDF, as it's checked at the border alongside your passport
  • The e-visa allows a single continuous stay of up to 30 days - check whether you need the multiple-entry option if traveling in and out of Azerbaijan
  • Double-check your passport details against the e-visa application; mismatches can cause boarding denial
  • If transiting through border-sensitive regions, verify current entry restrictions before departure
