How to apply

  • Apply in person at the Algerian Consulate General covering your region (Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Metz, Montpellier, or Nantes)

  • Standard processing time: 7-15 working days

Tips for France travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel since consular appointment slots can be scarce
  • A common rejection reason is an incomplete attestation d'hebergement - make sure it is stamped by the local commune/wilaya in Algeria
  • Apply at the consulate covering your department of residence in France; applying at the wrong consulate causes delays
  • Extensions beyond the visa's validity must be requested at a local police station (Surete Nationale) in Algeria before the visa expires
  • Dual French-Algerian nationals must travel on their Algerian passport, not their French one
