Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid 6+ months
  • Digital passport photo
  • Scanned passport bio page
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for entry)
  • Confirmed flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Biometrics not required online; fingerprints captured on arrival
  • Travel insurance: recommended

Visa types

  • Single-entry tourist e-Visa - up to 90 days, fee USD 50
  • East Africa Tourist Visa (joint with Kenya and Rwanda) - 90 days, multiple entry across the three countries, fee USD 100
  • Business e-Visa - single entry, fee USD 50-100 depending on duration
  • Multiple-entry visa (1-5 years) requires a separate in-person application

How to apply online

  • Register at visas.immigration.go.ug, complete the form, and upload the passport scan, photo, yellow fever certificate, and travel details. Pay by credit or debit card. Standard processing is 3-5 business days. The approval letter is emailed as a PDF - present it with the passport and yellow fever certificate at Entebbe International Airport or a land border to receive the final stamp.

Fees & processing time

  • Single-entry tourist e-Visa: USD 50
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: USD 100
  • No extra service fee on the government portal
  • Standard processing: 3-5 business days
  • No official express option; apply 2 weeks ahead in peak season

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 2 weeks before travel and double-check the yellow fever certificate upload, which is strictly checked at Entebbe. Common rejection reasons are a missing yellow fever certificate, a blurry passport scan, and incomplete accommodation details. Consider the East Africa Tourist Visa if also visiting Kenya or Rwanda, since it avoids separate applications. Extensions are handled at the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control in Kampala.
