Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid 6+ months beyond the stay
  • Digital passport photo
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation for the entire stay
  • Bank statement showing funds (around THB 20,000 per person, THB 40,000 per family)
  • Online e-Visa application only - no paper form
  • Biometrics not required for the e-Visa itself
  • Travel insurance covering medical treatment: recommended, sometimes requested

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (TR) - single entry, up to 60 days, fee THB 2,000
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) - 6 months validity, each stay up to 60 days, fee THB 10,000
  • Transit visa - up to 30 days, fee THB 1,000
  • Non-immigrant visas (business, work, study) handled separately through a Thai embassy, not the e-Visa portal

How to apply online

  • Create an account at evisa.go.th, complete the application, and upload the passport bio page, photo, flight itinerary, accommodation proof, and bank statement. Pay THB 2,000 (about USD 57) by credit or debit card. Standard processing is about 15 working days (up to 20 in peak season). Approval arrives as a PDF e-Visa by email - print it and carry it with your passport at immigration.

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa: THB 2,000 (about USD 57)
  • No extra service fee - paid directly on the government portal
  • Total cost: about USD 57
  • Standard processing: 15 working days
  • No official express option

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel given variable processing times. Common rejection reasons include insufficient bank balance, mismatched name spelling versus the passport, and a missing confirmed return ticket. Apply directly through evisa.go.th and avoid third-party agencies charging extra fees. A 30-day extension of stay is possible at a Thai Immigration Bureau office inside Thailand for a THB 1,900 fee.
