Egyptian citizens can get a Tanzania visa on arrival at major airports and land borders, or apply online in advance; the single-entry tourist visa costs USD 50 and is usually issued within an hour.

What you need

  • Passport valid 6+ months with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed visa application (online pre-registration or arrival form)
  • Yellow fever certificate if arriving from/transiting a risk country
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation for the full stay
  • Proof of sufficient funds (around USD 50/day suggested)
  • One passport photo, 2x2 inch, white background
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured at the border counter
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry tourist visa - valid for use within 90 days of issue, stay up to 90 days, fee USD 50
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa - 12 months validity, fee USD 100
  • Transit visa - up to 7 days, fee USD 30
  • East Africa Tourist Visa (joint with Kenya and Rwanda) - 90 days, multiple entry across the three countries, fee USD 100

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam), Kilimanjaro International Airport, Abeid Amani Karume Airport (Zanzibar), and major land borders such as Namanga and Tunduma. Pre-registering on eservices.immigration.go.tz speeds up processing but isn't mandatory for Egyptians. Pay the fee in USD cash or by card at the counter, get photographed and fingerprinted, and receive the stamp in 30-60 minutes. Queue tip: pre-registering online avoids the on-arrival form-filling line.
