Egyptian citizens apply for a South Korea visa through the Korea Visa Portal (visa.go.kr) and submit documents at the Korean Embassy or an authorized visa application center in Cairo; fee around USD 40-60, processing 5-10 working days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Completed Korea visa application started via visa.go.kr
  • Passport-size photo (3.5x4.5cm, white background), uploaded online and a printed copy for submission
  • Flight itinerary and detailed travel plan or invitation letter
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements for last 3-6 months, min balance approx USD 5,000 recommended)
  • Employment certificate or business registration (for business purposes)
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) captured at the embassy or visa center during submission
  • Travel health insurance recommended

Visa types

  • C-3 Short-Term Visit (Tourist) - single entry, up to 90 days, fee approx USD 40
  • C-3 Business visa - single entry, up to 90 days, fee approx USD 40, requires business invitation
  • D-2 Student visa - for enrolled students, requires admission letter from a Korean institution
  • Multiple-entry visa - issued at consular discretion for frequent business travelers, fee approx USD 60

How to apply online

  • Complete and submit the application on the Korea Visa Portal (visa.go.kr)
  • Print the confirmation and book an appointment at the Korean Embassy in Cairo or an authorized visa application center
  • Submit passport, printed form, photo and supporting documents in person; biometrics are taken at this visit
  • Pay the visa fee in EGP equivalent or USD at the counter
  • Processing time: 5-10 working days; some applicants may be asked for a short interview
  • Collect the passport with visa sticker in person or via courier

  • Tourist/business visa fee: approx USD 40
  • Multiple-entry visa fee: approx USD 60
  • No additional e-Visa service fee, but courier return costs extra if used
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days
  • Express processing generally not available for Egyptian applicants

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to allow for document review and possible interview scheduling
  • Common rejection reason: insufficient financial proof or an unclear travel itinerary
  • Prior Schengen, US, UK or Japan visa history can strengthen the application
  • Extensions of stay are handled by the Korea Immigration Service (Hi Korea portal) before the visa expires
  • Keep all original bank and employment documents ready in case the embassy requests additional proof
