Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Digital passport-style photo (JPEG) with white background for the online form
  • Scanned copy of passport bio page
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation for the length of stay
  • Proof of sufficient funds, roughly USD 50 per day recommended
  • Travel insurance is recommended but not mandatory
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa; a photo may be taken on arrival

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa - single entry, valid 90 days from issue for entry, max stay 28 days, fee USD 50
  • Business e-Visa - single entry, same validity window, max stay 70 days (extendable), fee USD 50
  • Multiple-entry business visa - available through the embassy for longer-term business travelers, higher fee set case by case

How to apply online

  • Go to evisa.moip.gov.mm and create an account
  • Fill in personal and travel details, upload the passport scan and photo
  • Pay the USD 50 fee online by credit/debit card
  • Processing normally takes 3-5 business days; approval arrives by email as a PDF
  • Print the approval letter and present it with your passport at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports
  • For embassy-issued business visas, apply instead via the Myanmar embassy or check mofa.gov.mm for the nearest representation

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist/business e-visa fee: USD 50 (non-refundable)
  • No separate service fee when applying directly on the official portal
  • Standard processing: 3-5 business days
  • Rush processing is not officially offered - apply early to avoid delays
  • Total cost for most Egyptian travelers: USD 50

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least a week before departure; the e-visa is valid for 90 days from approval, so you can apply well ahead
  • Common rejection reasons: blurry passport scans, mismatched names between passport and payment details
  • The business e-visa allows a longer 70-day stay and is useful if the trip is multi-purpose
  • Extensions of the tourist e-visa (28-day stay) are generally not permitted - plan the itinerary within that window
  • Check mofa.gov.mm for any updated entry advisories before departure
