Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Mongolia, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed online application form via evisa.mn (or paper form for embassy visa)
  • One recent passport-style photo, 35x45mm, white background
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Hotel booking or invitation letter from a Mongolian host
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement, minimum around USD 50 per day of stay)
  • Travel health insurance covering the stay is recommended but not mandatory
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa; fingerprints may be taken on arrival at Ulaanbaatar airport for some nationalities

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (single entry) - valid 90 days from issue, max stay 30 days, fee around USD 53
  • Tourist e-Visa (multiple entry) - valid 90 days, max stay 30 days per visit, fee around USD 106
  • Business visa - sticker visa issued by the embassy, requires an invitation letter from a Mongolian company, validity and fee set case by case
  • Transit visa - for travelers continuing to a third country within 48 hours, lower fee

How to apply

  • Apply online at evisa.mn: create an account, fill in the application, upload passport scan and photo
  • Pay the visa fee online by credit card in USD
  • Processing normally takes 3-5 business days; the approved e-visa is emailed as a PDF to print and carry
  • Alternatively, submit a paper application with the same documents to the nearest Mongolian embassy if the e-visa portal does not list Egypt
  • Print the e-visa approval and present it with your passport at Chinggis Khaan International Airport on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • Single-entry e-visa: approximately USD 53
  • Multiple-entry e-visa: approximately USD 106
  • No separate service fee when applying directly through evisa.mn
  • Standard processing: 3-5 business days
  • Express processing (24-48 hours) may be available for an extra fee of around USD 20-30
  • Total cost for most Egyptian travelers: USD 53-80 including express handling

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 2 weeks before travel to allow for any additional document requests
  • Common rejection reasons: unclear flight dates, insufficient bank balance evidence, or a passport with fewer than 6 months validity
  • Keep a printed and a digital copy of the approved e-visa - airlines in Cairo may ask to see it before boarding
  • Extensions beyond 30 days are possible at the Immigration Agency office in Ulaanbaatar, apply before the visa expires
  • Check current relations and any entry notices via the Egyptian embassy in Beijing, which also covers Mongolia
