Madagascar Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Egyptian citizens can obtain a visa on arrival in Madagascar for stays up to 90 days, or pre-register online via evisamada.gov.mg to speed up arrival processing.

Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host invitation)
  • Sufficient funds for the length of stay (cash or card, may be checked at the border)
  • One passport photo is recommended though not always strictly enforced for the on-arrival process
  • Biometrics (photo and fingerprints) are captured at the airport immigration counter on arrival
  • Travel health insurance is strongly recommended; proof of a yellow fever vaccination certificate may be requested if arriving from or transiting a country with yellow fever risk

Visa types

  • Tourist visa on arrival - single entry, up to 30, 60, or 90 days depending on the option chosen and fee paid
  • Business visa on arrival - similar process, requires an invitation letter from the hosting Malagasy company
  • Long-stay visas (work, residence) must be arranged in advance through the nearest Madagascar diplomatic mission, as these are not issued on arrival

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Ivato International Airport (Antananarivo) and other designated entry points
  • Pre-registering your details online at evisamada.gov.mg before travel is recommended - it generates a reference that speeds up the airport counter process, though final issuance still happens on arrival
  • At the airport: fill in or confirm the arrival form, submit your passport and documents, pay the fee, and have your photo and fingerprints taken
  • Fees are typically payable in euros or US dollars at the counter; keep small denomination notes as change may be limited
  • Queues can be long during peak season (July-September), so budget extra time after landing

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: approximately USD 10-15 for 30 days, USD 25-35 for 60-90 days (amounts are set in euros and converted at the counter)
  • No separate service fee for the on-arrival process itself
  • Total estimated cost: around USD 15-35 depending on duration chosen
  • Processing time at the airport: typically 15-45 minutes depending on how busy the counter is
  • There is no official express lane; pre-registering online via evisamada.gov.mg is the main way to reduce time spent at the counter

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Pre-register online a few days before departure so you are not filling in forms at the counter after a long flight
  • Carry US dollars or euros in cash, as the on-arrival process is not always set up for card payment
  • A yellow fever certificate is only required if you have recently transited a country with yellow fever risk - check this before flying, as Cairo flights normally do not trigger it
  • Extensions beyond your initial stay can be arranged at the immigration office in Antananarivo before your visa expires
  • Avoid arriving on a visa on a flight with a short connection, since queues can be unpredictable
