Ireland Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens need an Irish visa, applied for online through the AVATS system, since Ireland is not part of the Schengen area.

Guide last updated October 17, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for the duration of the intended stay, with at least one blank page
  • Completed online application via the AVATS portal (irishimmigration.ie), printed and signed as the summary sheet
  • One recent passport-size photo
  • Proof of funds (bank statements for the last 6 months)
  • Proof of accommodation and a return/onward flight itinerary
  • Letter of employment or business registration showing ties to Egypt
  • Biometrics are not standard but photos/signatures are verified on the paper application
  • Travel/medical insurance recommended, though not strictly mandatory for short-stay visitors

Visa types

  • Short-stay 'C' visa (tourist/business/visit): single or multiple entry, valid for stays up to 90 days, fee approx. EUR 60 (single) / EUR 100 (multiple)
  • Long-stay 'D' visa for work, study or family reunification, with additional documentation requirements

How to apply

  • Complete the online application through AVATS, print the summary sheet, and gather the supporting documents listed on the checklist
  • Submit the application pack to the Irish visa office covering Egypt, often routed via the Irish Embassy in Cairo or the Irish Visa Office abroad
  • Pay the visa fee as instructed (bank draft, online payment, or at a facilitation center where available)
  • Track the application status online using the reference number provided

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 60 for a single-entry short-stay visa, EUR 100 for multi-entry
  • No mandatory third-party service fee if applying directly, though a facilitation center may add a handling charge
  • Standard processing time: 4-8 weeks, depending on volume and completeness of documents
  • No expedited processing service is generally available

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply well in advance (at least 6-8 weeks) given Ireland's longer average processing times compared to Schengen visas
  • Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa does not cover entry into Ireland and vice versa
  • Ensure financial documents are recent and clearly show stable funds, as this is heavily scrutinized
  • Keep a copy of the full application pack, since physical submission remains common for Irish visas
  • If traveling onward to the UK, check that a separate UK visa is in place, as the Common Travel Area does not grant visa-free travel to most non-EU nationals
