Zambia Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Canadian citizens can enter Zambia visa-free for tourism or business for stays of up to 90 days per year, using a valid passport.

Guide last updated September 30, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • No visa application form required for the visa-free entry
  • Proof of onward or return travel may be requested at the airport
  • Proof of accommodation is recommended in case of border questions
  • No visa photo needed for visa-free entry
  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required if arriving from or having transited a country with risk of yellow fever transmission
  • Travel health insurance is recommended given the cost of private medical evacuation if needed

Visa types

  • No visa is required for tourism or short business visits — entry is visa-free for Canadian passport holders
  • Authorized stay: up to 90 days total within a 12-month period, across single or multiple entries
  • Longer stays, work, or residency require a work permit or visa arranged in advance through Zambia's Department of Immigration or a Zambian mission abroad

Entry conditions

  • Present a valid passport at the port of entry; immigration issues an entry stamp recording the permitted stay
  • Paid employment is not permitted under the visa-free entry
  • A KAZA Univisa (covering Zambia and Zimbabwe, plus day trips into Botswana) is available separately for about USD 50 for travelers visiting Victoria Falls from both sides
  • Extensions within the 90-day annual allowance can be requested at immigration offices in Lusaka or other major cities

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the visa-free entry itself
  • The optional KAZA Univisa costs about USD 50, issued on arrival at participating border posts and airports
  • Extension requests at immigration offices carry a modest administrative fee and are usually processed the same day

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Confirm the current yellow fever vaccination requirement before travel, since it depends on the traveler's recent itinerary
  • Consider the KAZA Univisa if combining a Zambia trip with a visit to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side
  • Track cumulative days in Zambia across the year if making multiple trips, since the 90-day allowance is annual, not per-visit
  • Carry proof of accommodation and return travel for smoother processing at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport
  • Zambia's e-visa portal can also be used in advance, though it is not required for Canadians under the visa-free arrangement
