Togo Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Canadian citizens need an e-Visa for Togo, applied for online at visa.gouv.tg before travel, with fees starting around EUR 30-40 and processing typically within 72 hours.

Guide last updated September 30, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Togo, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Digital passport photo (white background) for the online application.
  • Scanned copy of your passport bio page.
  • Confirmed flight itinerary and proof of accommodation.
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Togo.
  • No in-person biometrics are required for the e-visa; you receive an approval letter to print and present on arrival.

Visa types

  • Short-stay e-Visa (Tourist/Business): options for 7, 15, 30, or 90 days, single entry, fee ranging roughly EUR 30 (7 days) to EUR 75 (90 days).
  • Multiple-entry e-Visa: available for frequent business travelers, valid up to 90 days with multiple entries, higher fee (approx. EUR 100).
  • Long-stay visas (work, residency) must be arranged through the Togolese Embassy rather than the online portal.

How to apply online

  • Apply at the official portal, visa.gouv.tg, creating an account and filling in personal, passport, and travel details.
  • Upload your passport scan, photo, yellow fever certificate, and proof of accommodation/itinerary.
  • Pay the fee online by credit card in euros (converted automatically from local currency pricing).
  • Processing typically takes 48-72 hours; you receive an approval PDF by email to print and carry with your passport.
  • Present the printed approval and passport at Lomé-Tokoin International Airport on arrival to receive your entry stamp.

Fees & processing time

  • 7-day e-visa: approximately EUR 30 (about CAD 44).
  • 30-day e-visa: approximately EUR 50 (about CAD 73).
  • 90-day e-visa: approximately EUR 75-100 (about CAD 110-145).
  • Standard processing: 48-72 hours; no dedicated express option is advertised, so apply at least a week before travel to allow buffer time.
  • No separate service/VFS fee - payment is made directly through the government portal.

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Apply for the e-visa at least 1-2 weeks before departure since processing times can occasionally exceed the stated 72 hours.
  • Double-check that your yellow fever certificate is properly signed and dated - this is one of the most common reasons for delays or on-arrival issues.
  • Print two copies of your e-visa approval in case one is requested by your airline at check-in and another by immigration.
  • Keep a digital copy on your phone as backup in case you can't print before departure.
  • For stays beyond 90 days or non-tourist purposes, contact the Togolese Embassy directly rather than relying on the e-visa portal.
