Sudan Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Canadian citizens need a visa to enter Sudan, applied for in advance through a Sudanese diplomatic mission, with consular services currently disrupted by the ongoing conflict.

Guide last updated September 30, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank pages
  • Two recent passport-style photos
  • Completed visa application form
  • Invitation letter or hotel confirmation
  • Proof of onward travel and a recent bank statement
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate

Visa types

  • Tourist visa: single entry, typically 30 days validity
  • Business visa: single or multiple entry, requires a sponsoring company letter
  • Both are issued as sticker visas; availability and processing are currently limited or suspended at some missions due to Sudan's ongoing civil conflict

How to apply

  • Submit the application in person or by mail to the nearest operating Sudanese Embassy or Consulate, as Sudan does not maintain routine visa-processing services in Canada in all circumstances
  • Provide the completed form, photos, supporting documents, and fee; an interview may be required
  • Standard processing is 5-15 business days under normal conditions, though delays or service suspension are currently common given the conflict

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee is approximately USD 100-160 depending on entry type and processing speed
  • Given the active conflict since 2023, consular services have been disrupted and costs or availability may vary significantly, or the visa may be unobtainable through normal channels at times

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Canada's government currently advises against all travel to Sudan due to the armed conflict; check the latest official travel advisory before any planning
  • Confirm directly with the nearest Sudanese diplomatic mission whether visa services are currently operating
  • Register with Canada's ROCA service and arrange evacuation insurance if travel is essential
  • Expect significant delays and be prepared to provide extra documentation given the current situation
