Palestine Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Canadian citizens do not need a Palestinian visa to enter the West Bank or Gaza, but in practice entry is controlled through Israeli border authorities, who issue the entry permit/stamp at crossings such as the Allenby Bridge or Ben Gurion Airport.

Guide last updated September 30, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
  • No Palestinian visa is required, since the Palestinian Authority does not independently control most border crossings
  • Entry into the West Bank is typically via Israeli-controlled crossings (Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan, or Israeli checkpoints), where Israeli border officials issue an entry permit/stamp
  • Return or onward travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation and a clear, credible reason for travel, since Israeli border officers can question visitors extensively, particularly regarding West Bank travel plans
  • Travel health insurance is strongly recommended
  • Gaza entry is severely restricted and generally not possible for tourists; check current conditions and Global Affairs Canada advisories before considering travel there

Visa types

  • No standalone Palestinian tourist visa exists for short visits; entry is governed by the Israeli-issued entry permit/stamp at the border or airport
  • Palestinian Authority accreditation/visa letters are used mainly for journalists, NGO workers, and diplomats, arranged through the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mfa.gov.ps) or the relevant PA representative office
  • Long-term residency or work in Palestinian Authority areas requires separate PA-issued permits coordinated with Israeli civil administration approval

Entry conditions

  • Canadians may enter and travel in the West Bank without a Palestinian visa, subject to Israeli border control granting entry
  • Some entry stamps or permits are marked as restricting Palestinian Authority area access; if your goal is West Bank travel, clarify this with the border officer or apply for a PA-coordinated permit if requested
  • Work in Palestinian territories is not permitted on a tourist entry; separate work authorization from the PA and Israeli authorities is required
  • Movement between the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel is subject to checkpoints and can change quickly based on security conditions
  • Extensions of stay are handled through Israeli-administered channels since the entry stamp originates from Israeli border control

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee applies, since there is no standalone Palestinian visa for short tourist visits
  • No processing time is needed beyond standard border/airport control at your point of entry
  • If a Palestinian Authority-issued accreditation or coordination letter is required (e.g. for journalists or NGO staff), processing through the PA Ministry of Foreign Affairs can take 2-4 weeks and may involve coordination fees set case-by-case
  • No express service exists for this type of accreditation given the multi-party coordination involved

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Check Global Affairs Canada's travel advisory closely before any trip, as it currently recommends against all travel to Gaza and against non-essential travel to the West Bank due to the security situation
  • Expect thorough questioning at Israeli border crossings, especially if your itinerary includes the West Bank; a clear, honest explanation of your travel plans helps
  • Consider entering via the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan if your trip is focused on the West Bank, as this crossing is commonly used by tourists and NGO workers
  • Journalists and aid workers should arrange accreditation with the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Israeli authorities well in advance
  • Keep copies of all identification and any permits separate from your originals in case of loss, and register your trip with Global Affairs Canada's registration of Canadians abroad service
