Oman Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Canadian citizens can obtain an Oman visa on arrival, or pre-apply online via the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal, typically issued for tourism for up to 30 days.

Guide last updated September 30, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
  • A confirmed onward/return ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for your stay
  • A recent passport-size photo if applying online in advance via evisa.rop.gov.om
  • Sufficient funds to cover your stay, which may be requested by immigration officers
  • Travel health insurance is recommended
  • No biometrics required for the tourist visa on arrival, though a photograph may be taken at the immigration counter

Visa types

  • Tourist visa on arrival: single entry, valid for up to 30 days, issued at Muscat International Airport or pre-approved online
  • Unsponsored tourist eVisa (10-day): shorter validity, lower fee, for quick visits
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa: for those needing to exit and re-enter Oman during a longer trip, applied for online in advance
  • Business visa: requires a sponsoring Omani company and invitation letter, arranged in advance rather than on arrival

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Muscat International Airport and select ports for Canadian passport holders
  • You can also pre-register online at evisa.rop.gov.om before departure to speed up the arrival process and reduce queue time
  • At the airport, present your passport, return ticket and accommodation proof at the visa counter before immigration
  • Pay the visa fee in cash (Omani Rial) or by card at the visa counter, then proceed to immigration for stamping
  • Processing at the airport counter typically takes 15-30 minutes depending on queue length
  • Keep your visa receipt/printout until departure, as it may be checked on exit

Fees & processing time

  • 10-day tourist visa: approximately OMR 5 (about USD 13)
  • 30-day single-entry tourist visa: approximately OMR 20 (about USD 52)
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa (1 year validity, unlimited entries of up to 30 days each): approximately OMR 50 (about USD 130)
  • On-arrival processing takes roughly 15-30 minutes; online pre-approval via the eVisa portal is typically processed within 2-3 business days
  • No separate express fee; online pre-approval itself functions as the fast-track option

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Pre-applying online through evisa.rop.gov.om before your flight is strongly recommended to avoid airport queues, especially during peak tourist season (October-March)
  • Carry a printed copy of your eVisa approval or hotel booking, since airline check-in staff may ask for proof of onward accommodation
  • Modest dress is expected in Oman; while not a visa condition, it affects the smoothness of your entry experience culturally
  • Extensions of the 30-day visa can sometimes be arranged through the Royal Oman Police for an additional fee, but confirm locally before your visa expires
  • If transiting through Dubai, treat the UAE and Oman as entirely separate visa processes, since they are not linked
