Marshall Islands Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Canadian citizens receive a visa on arrival in the Marshall Islands for tourism stays of up to 30 days, extendable to 90 days.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival date
  • Completed arrival/entry permit form
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking)
  • Return or onward ticket (required, as onward connections from Majuro are limited)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
  • No biometrics required beyond a standard immigration photo
  • Travel health insurance recommended given very limited medical facilities

Visa types

  • Tourist entry permit on arrival: single entry, valid for up to 30 days, extendable
  • Business entry permit: similar validity, requires a local sponsor or invitation letter
  • No advance e-Visa system is required - the permit is issued directly at the airport

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Amata Kabua International Airport in Majuro, the country's main international gateway
  • Present your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof at the immigration counter
  • A small entry permit fee is payable in US Dollars (the Marshall Islands uses the USD as its currency)
  • Processing at the airport counter typically takes just a few minutes given low passenger volumes
  • Flights are infrequent (Majuro is served mainly via United Airlines' island-hopper route), so confirm your onward connection carefully

Fees & processing time

  • Entry permit fee: approximately USD 15-20 for the initial 30-day stay
  • No separate service fee
  • On-arrival processing: a few minutes given light airport traffic
  • Extensions (up to 90 days total) can be arranged at the Immigration Division in Majuro for an additional modest fee, processed within a few business days

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Confirm onward flight availability well in advance, since the Marshall Islands has very limited air connectivity
  • Carry US Dollars in cash, as card payment options are limited outside Majuro's main hotels
  • Medical evacuation insurance is strongly recommended given the remote location and minimal local healthcare capacity
  • If visiting outer atolls, arrange transport and permits locally, as some areas require landowner permission
  • Pack for tropical conditions and be mindful of limited freshwater supply on some atolls
