Jordan Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Canadian citizens need a visa for Jordan, issued on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and land border crossings (except the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge from Israel), or bundled free with a Jordan Pass.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date
  • No pre-filled form required for airport arrival — a short entry card is completed at the immigration desk
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) may be requested
  • Return or onward ticket recommended
  • Passport-size photo not required for the standard on-arrival visa
  • No biometric enrollment for the visa itself, though photo/fingerprint may be taken at some crossings
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry tourist visa: issued on arrival, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, fee JOD 40 (~USD 56), extendable once inside Jordan
  • Jordan Pass: a combined tourism package (from JOD 70) that waives the JOD 40 entry visa fee entirely for travelers staying at least 3 nights and visiting Petra and other paid sites — must be purchased online before arrival
  • Multiple-entry visa: available for JOD 60, typically arranged in advance through the Jordanian embassy for business travelers
  • Business/work visas require sponsorship and must be arranged before travel through the Jordanian embassy in Ottawa

Visa on arrival

  • Available at: Queen Alia International Airport (Amman), Aqaba King Hussein International Airport, and most land border crossings — not at the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge crossing from Israel/West Bank, where a visa must be pre-arranged
  • Steps: present your passport at the visa counter before immigration, pay the fee, receive a visa sticker/stamp, then proceed to passport control
  • Fee currency: Jordanian Dinar (JOD) cash preferred; USD and card accepted at the airport counter at a less favorable rate
  • Jordan Pass holders skip the payment step — the pass QR code confirms the fee waiver directly at the immigration desk
  • Queue tip: airport visa-on-arrival lines move quickly outside peak evening arrival banks; have exact JOD cash ready to avoid change delays

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: JOD 40 (~USD 56) for single entry, JOD 60 (~USD 85) for multiple entry
  • Jordan Pass: from JOD 70 (~USD 99), includes visa fee waiver plus site admissions — best value for stays of 3+ nights
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee — payment is made directly at the border
  • Total cost estimate: JOD 40–70 depending on route chosen
  • Processing time: a few minutes at the visa counter on arrival
  • Extensions inside Jordan: free for the first extension at a local police station, arranged within the initial 30-day validity

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Buy the Jordan Pass online at least a few days before departure if visiting Petra — it pays for itself and removes the arrival visa fee
  • Carry small JOD bills or USD for the visa fee if not using the Pass; card payment can be slow at busy times
  • Common issue for Canadians: forgetting that the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge land crossing does not offer visa-on-arrival — enter via the airport or another land border instead
  • Register your extension at a local police station within the initial 30 days to avoid an overstay fine at departure
  • Check Global Affairs Canada's advisory for Jordan's border areas with Syria and Iraq before planning land travel
