Honduras Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Canadian citizens can enter Honduras visa-free for up to 90 days under the CA-4 Central America Border Control Agreement, which also covers Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation or itinerary
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • No visa application form required
  • No biometrics required on arrival
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • No visa is required for Canadian tourists or business visitors
  • Under the CA-4 Agreement, a single 90-day permit covers travel among Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua combined, not 90 days per country
  • Work or residency requires a separate permit application through Honduran immigration authorities (Instituto Nacional de Migración) before or after arrival

Entry conditions

  • Canadians are admitted for up to 90 days total within the CA-4 zone (Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua combined)
  • Paid work is not permitted under this entry status
  • On arrival, present your passport for an entry stamp at any CA-4 country's port of entry; track your cumulative days across all four countries, as the 90-day clock does not reset when crossing between them
  • A one-time extension of up to 90 additional days can be requested at an immigration office in one of the CA-4 countries before the initial period expires

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the visa-free entry itself
  • An airport/tourist entry fee of a few USD may apply at some Honduran land borders or airports (typically small, around USD 3)
  • No service fee since there is no pre-travel application
  • Processing time: immediate at the port of entry
  • No express option needed

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Keep a written log of entry/exit stamps if traveling through multiple CA-4 countries, since immigration officers may ask how many of your 90 CA-4 days you have used
  • Common issues: travelers mistakenly believe they get a fresh 90 days at each CA-4 border - this is not the case
  • If you plan to stay beyond 90 days or travel outside the CA-4 zone partway through, plan your itinerary carefully to avoid inadvertent overstay
  • Extension requests are best made a week or more before expiry at an immigration office in Tegucigalpa or San Pedro Sula
