Estonia Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Canadian passport holders can visit Estonia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the Schengen Agreement — no visa application is needed for tourism or business.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years
  • No visa application or entry form required for tourism or business
  • Proof of sufficient funds and a return or onward ticket may be requested at the border
  • Accommodation details (hotel booking or invitation) helpful to have on hand
  • Travel health insurance recommended, minimum €30,000 coverage
  • Biometrics: none required for visa-free entry (the EU's Entry/Exit System will eventually capture fingerprints and photo at the border once fully rolled out)

Visa types

  • No visa needed for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, business, or family visits
  • National (long-stay) D visa required for stays over 90 days, work, or study — apply through the Estonian Embassy or an Estonian consulate
  • Digital nomad visa available separately for remote workers meeting income requirements

Entry conditions

  • Visa-free stay limited to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted across the entire Schengen area, not just Estonia
  • No paid work permitted on a visa-free entry
  • Border officers may ask to see your return/onward ticket and proof of funds (roughly €100/day is a common guideline)
  • Tourist stays cannot be extended within Estonia — you must leave the Schengen area once your 90 days are used

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for visa-free entry
  • National D visa fee: approximately €80-120
  • D visa processing: typically 15 working days, longer if additional documents are requested

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Track your cumulative Schengen days carefully if you're visiting multiple EU countries on the same trip, since the 90/180 limit is shared across the whole zone
  • Carry proof of accommodation and your return ticket in case a border officer asks
  • Police registration is only required for longer D-visa stays, not short tourist visits
  • Watch for the EU's ETIAS travel authorization, which will eventually require online pre-registration (a small fee) before visa-free entry
