Cyprus Visa for Canada Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Canadian citizens can enter Cyprus visa-free for tourism or business for up to 90 days within any 180-day period — no visa required, though Cyprus is not part of the Schengen area so its 90 days are calculated separately.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from Cyprus
  • Proof of return or onward travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host address)
  • Proof of sufficient funds may be requested (recommended around EUR 50-100 per day)
  • Travel health insurance is recommended though not mandatory for Canadians
  • No visa application, photos, or biometrics required for the visa-free entry

Visa types

  • No visa required for stays up to 90 days for tourism, business meetings, or family visits
  • Temporary residence permit ("Pink Slip"): required for stays beyond 90 days, work, or study, applied for through the Civil Registry and Migration Department after arrival or via the Cyprus High Commission
  • Note: Cyprus is divided — the areas administered by the Republic of Cyprus follow these rules; the north (administered separately) has its own entry procedures for those crossing the Green Line

Entry conditions

  • Canadians may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counted independently of Schengen days since Cyprus has not joined the Schengen area
  • Working is not permitted on a visa-free tourist entry
  • Border officers may ask for proof of accommodation and return travel at Larnaca or Paphos airports
  • Overstaying can result in fines and possible entry bans on future visits; extensions beyond 90 days require a formal application to the Cyprus Civil Registry and Migration Department before the 90 days expire

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the visa-free stay
  • No advance processing time required since no visa application is filed
  • If applying for an extension or Pink Slip in-country, fees are typically EUR 70-100 and processing takes several weeks

Tips for Canada travelers

  • Because Cyprus's 90-day allowance is separate from Schengen, time spent in Cyprus does not count against your Schengen 90/180-day limit for other EU trips, and vice versa — useful for combining a longer Europe trip
  • Carry proof of hotel bookings and a return ticket, as these are the documents most commonly requested at Larnaca and Paphos airports
  • Register with Global Affairs Canada before travel, particularly if visiting the northern part of the island, which is administered separately
  • If your itinerary combines Cyprus with mainland Schengen countries, plan your days carefully since immigration rules and stamps differ between the two
