Visa on Arrival

Canadian citizens can get a Cambodian tourist visa on arrival for USD 30, or apply in advance for the same visa online at evisa.gov.kh for USD 36 total.

Guide last updated September 29, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page
  • One passport-style photo (4x6 cm, plain background) — required for the on-arrival visa; the e-visa upload requires a digital version
  • Completed arrival visa application form (available at the border, or online for the e-visa)
  • Cash in USD for the visa-on-arrival fee (cards not accepted at land borders; limited card acceptance at Phnom Penh/Siem Reap airports)
  • Proof of onward/return travel may be requested
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory
  • No biometrics beyond a photo taken at the border/airport

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (T-class): single entry, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, extendable once by 30 days
  • Ordinary/business visa (E-class): single entry, extendable for longer stays and convertible to multi-month permits while in-country, commonly used by those planning to stay for work purposes
  • E-visa: available online in advance, valid only for entry through a small number of designated airports and land/river checkpoints; not accepted at all border crossings, so check the current list before relying on it

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports and most major land border crossings
  • Steps: complete the arrival form (or bring your printed e-visa approval), submit your photo, and pay the fee in cash
  • Tourist visa fee: USD 30 cash at the airport/border; the equivalent online e-visa costs USD 30 plus a USD 6 processing fee (about USD 36 total)
  • Processing at the airport counter typically takes 10–20 minutes
  • Queue tip: land border crossings (e.g., from Thailand or Vietnam) can be busier and slower than the airport counters, and are more prone to informal "extra fee" requests — insist on the official receipt

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist visa on arrival: USD 30 cash, processed in 10–20 minutes
  • E-visa (applied online in advance): USD 30 visa fee + USD 6 service fee = USD 36 total, processed within 3 business days
  • One 30-day extension of the tourist visa is available at the Immigration Department for an additional fee (typically USD 45)
  • No separate agency fee if applying directly through evisa.gov.kh or paying on arrival

Tips for Canada travelers

  • If arriving by land, budget extra time and carry exact USD cash, as border posts can be slow and cards are not accepted
  • The e-visa is convenient for airport arrivals but confirm it is accepted at your specific point of entry before relying on it, since not all land crossings honor it
  • A common issue is an unclear or non-compliant photo for the paper arrival form — carry a couple of spare passport photos
  • Register your extension request before the initial 30 days expire; overstay fines accrue daily (around USD 10/day) and unpaid fines can cause departure delays
  • Book accommodation with proof of address, since some border officials ask for it despite it not being a strict formal requirement
