What you need

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay in France and the Schengen Area. It must also have at least two blank pages and have been issued within the last 10 years.
  • Application Form: Completed and signed Schengen Visa application form, obtainable from the France-Visas official portal (france-visas.gouv.fr) or the visa application center.
  • Financial Proof: Bank statements for the last 3-6 months showing sufficient funds to cover your stay. The exact amount required per day can vary, but a minimum of €65 per day for hotel stays and €120 per day for other accommodation is often cited, with a minimum of €325 if no accommodation is booked. For students, specific financial guarantees or scholarships may be required.
  • Accommodation Proof: Confirmed hotel bookings or a letter of invitation (attestation d'accueil) from a host in France if staying with them.
  • Return Ticket: A confirmed round-trip flight reservation or equivalent transport documentation.
  • Photos: Two recent passport-sized photographs meeting Schengen specifications: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, color, white background, neutral facial expression, and head covering only for religious reasons.
  • Biometrics: Fingerprints and a digital photograph will be collected at the visa application center (VFS Global or BLS International) when you submit your application. These are valid for 59 months.
